AWS Glue no longer connecting to RDS Maria DB

My Glue jobs are no longer connecting to MariaDB. The scripts, database and supporting infrastructure have not changed. I am unsure of the exact start date of the failures.

Interestingly the crawler still seems to be able to connect to the database and update the catalog. I can also test the connection and get a successful result.

Relevant error messages:

Communications link failure Received fatal alert: protocol_version
