Cost clarification for EC2 instance - 64GB root drive for t3.small

0

Hi all,

I have t3.small instance with 30GB of root drive. I know that for this instance type 30GB is free or without additional costs. And I need to increase root drive to 64GB. Will I get additional cost for more space in root drive? I started to check it and by AWS calculator it will be additional $0.06. Can I ask you guys to clarify how it works? For how much I will be additionaly charged for my EC2 instance?

If you are declaring that you are getting 30GB free, then you are still under the Free Tier. The Free Tier for EBS lasts 12 months and after that you would start to be charged. The EBS costs are independent of which kind of EC2 instance you are on. I'm assuming you are talking about the Virginia region for pricing. I am not finding an EBS storage type that would cost $0.06 per hour. GP3 in Virginia costs $0.08 per GB per month. Therefore 34GB (after the 30GB of Free Tier) would cost $2.72 according to the AWS Calculator.

Here is my AWS Calculator estimate.
