When you create an AWS Support case for your Lambda connectivity issue with S3 and DynamoDB, here's what you can expect:

  1. Response time depends on your AWS Support plan level. With a Business Support plan, initial response times are typically within 24 hours for general guidance, 4 hours for system impaired issues, and 1 hour for production system impaired. Enterprise Support offers faster response times. Without a paid support plan, response times for basic technical support may be longer.

  2. AWS Support should be able to help with your Lambda connectivity issue. This is a common scenario they handle regularly. Your issue appears to be a Lambda function within a VPC that's having trouble accessing S3 and DynamoDB, which is a known configuration challenge.

  3. AWS Support engineers are well-equipped to solve this type of problem. They'll analyze your specific configuration and identify potential issues like:

  • VPC endpoint configuration for S3 and DynamoDB
  • Security group settings that might be blocking traffic
  • IAM permissions for your Lambda function
  • Timeout settings that might need adjustment
  • Network configuration within your VPC
  1. While waiting for AWS Support, you could try these troubleshooting steps:
  • Verify your VPC endpoints are correctly configured (gateway endpoint for S3, interface endpoint for DynamoDB)
  • Check security groups to ensure they allow outbound traffic to the endpoints
  • Review IAM permissions for your Lambda function
  • Enable VPC flow logs to monitor network traffic
  • Increase Lambda timeout settings
  • Test your Lambda function outside the VPC to isolate if the issue is VPC-related

When working with AWS Support, be sure to provide detailed information including relevant logs, error messages, and screenshots to help them analyze your issue more efficiently.
