This error usually means the EC2 instance is not responding or the operating system has an issue.
You can try the following basic steps:
1.Check Status Checks a. Go to EC2 → Instances → Status checks b. If any check is failing, it indicates a system or OS problem.
2.Stop and Start the instance a. Stop the instance (not reboot) and then start it again. b. This moves the instance to new hardware and often fixes the issue.
3.Check system logs a. Go to Actions → Monitor and troubleshoot → Get system log b. Look for errors like boot failure, disk issues, or kernel panic.
4.Verify security group and network a. Make sure required ports are open: i. Port 22 for Linux ii. Port 3389 for Windows b. Ensure the instance has internet access (public IP or proper routing).
5.Check disk space or resource usage a. If the disk is full or CPU/memory is exhausted, the instance may become unresponsive.
6.Contact AWS Support a. If the system status check keeps failing and nothing works, raise a support ticket.
This usually happens due to a temporary console or instance connectivity issue. Try refreshing the console, logging out and back in, or checking the instance status and system checks. If the issue persists, restarting the instance often resolves it.
