Hey,
Connection issues can be really perplexing, especially when they seemingly pop up out of nowhere. I've faced similar problems in the past, and it's just so perplexing when things were working smoothly before.
In my experience, the "Putty fatal error Network error: Software caused connection abort" can be caused by a variety of factors. Sometimes, it could be due to a sudden firewall change, or maybe an issue with the network itself. It's not usually a problem with your account or the EC2 instance, so don't worry too much about that.
One thing you might want to try is rebooting the instance. It sounds simple, but it often helps in resolving unexpected connection issues. I have experience with similar problems (I even worked for 3 years as a system admin at Andersen) and it really saved me in some cases. If that doesn't work, double-check your security group settings. Maybe a rule got changed accidentally.
