Hierarchy in Greengrass V2

Question

Is there a possibility to create a hierarchy in a AWS Greengrass environment.  
Specifically i want to know if/how it is possible to use Greengras devices that are not directly connected to the internet "below" greengrass devices connected to the internet?  
In Azure this is possible by using an Azure IOT Edge as a gateway.

Yes I can tell you that we have thought about this functionality, however I cannot provide you with any timeline for this possible enhancement.

Hi Sebastian,  
This is not currently possible to do as you suggest, however Greengrass is able to operate entirely offline. You can still deploy and manage components using the local Greengrass CLI component.

Are there any plans to implement some compareable possibility?  
Entirely offline is not an option in my usecase because i have to update Components.
