The AWS Shared Reponsibility Model means that this data is looked after by you not AWS. AWS however provides great tools for backing up your important data based around EBS snapshots which can be done directly or via the AWS Backup service or Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager. So you can restore a snapshot to another instance to replace the current one, or copy the data you need from it.

thank you so much for your quick response. Actually I',m new to AWS. I checked under EBS there is no snapshot available. Could you please advise step by step. Also please advise, now I need to create a new instance right? the older one won't work anymore?
