Transit Gateway SD-WAN Bandwidth limit

0

Dear Team - As per https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-instance-network-bandwidth.html,

if an instance specifies up to 10 Gbps of bandwidth, that means it has up to 10 Gbps of bandwidth for inbound traffic, and up to 10 Gbps for outbound traffic.

if we deploy SD-WAN appliance on instance type which support 10 Gbps bandwidth, Does it mean that, SD-WAN can also support 10 Gbps throughput on dedicated 10GB Direct connect link?

Single connect peer/gre tunnel can have 5 GB bandwidth so if we run two connect peer/gre tunnel and perform the ECMP, then end-to-end (From Transit Gateway --> SD-WAN appliances in VPC --> Direct connect circuit --> on-prem router), can we achieve 10 Gbps of bandwidth ?

Thanks,

Yes you can. As per documentation its mentioned here

You can create up to 4 Connect peers per Connect attachment (up to 20 Gbps in total bandwidth per Connect attachment), as long as the underlying transport (VPC or AWS Direct Connect) attachment supports the required bandwidth. You can use ECMP to get higher bandwidth by scaling horizontally across multiple Connect peers of the same Connect attachment or across multiple Connect attachments on the same transit gateway. The transit gateway cannot use ECMP between the BGP peerings of the same Connect peer.

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/vpc/latest/tgw/transit-gateway-quotas.html

I will also pay attention to below. So i believe your instance(SDWAN appliance) should have atleast 20Gbps capabilities to push 50% that is 10Gbps.

"To other Regions, an internet gateway, Direct Connect, or local gateways (LGW) – Traffic can utilize up to 50% of the network bandwidth available to a current generation instance with a minimum of 32 vCPUs. Bandwidth for a current generation instance with less than 32 vCPUs is limited to 5 Gbps." https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-instance-network-bandwidth.html
