SES Email Identity Verification Never Arrives to Google Group

I have a group email configured in Google Workspaces that I'm trying to verify in SES so that I can receive emails to it in the test environment. I've disabled moderation in the Google Group, so there shouldn't be any issues with spam filtering. I receive verification emails sent to my address on the same email domain, but not to the group address.

Any idea where I would start with diagnosing this?
