How to add availability zone to existing kafka cluster without downtime?
0
Hi,
We have an existing AWS managed Kafka cluster which is setup on 2 AZs. How can we add additional AZ to the this cluster without any downtime or recreating the cluster? I couldn't find any documenation about it.
Much appreciated,
jon

Hi there, currently once the cluster is created more brokers can be added in the existing AZs. However adding AZs is not possible. Only way to achieve the use case is to create a new cluster with 3AZs and migrate to the new cluster using MirrorMaker https://catalog.us-east-1.prod.workshops.aws/v2/workshops/5e7795af-4545-4711-9c19-b85bfd6455a9/en-US/migration/mirrormaker2/overview
