how implement forgot password for cognito user by email

I have cognito user pool with users. I need to implement forgot password logic with email also like with username. It's means that you can enter email or username and it will start forgot password procedure. Do you know any ways to do it?

Answer

If you set the email address as a sign in alias, this can also be used for the forgot password flow $$1$$. Unfortunately, it looks like you can only set this on creation, so you'd need to create a new user pool and migrate users over.
