Lightsail custom domain Certificate region and assignment problem

0

Hello, REF Amazon Lightsail, Distribution, Custom Domains - Certificates I have created a Distribution in the Ireland region and have no option to select the region when I create a new certificate. For some bizarre reason it keeps on defaulting the certificate to VIRGINIA region. I cannot attach the certificate as it says its assigned in a different region. What I have also done is under ACCOUNT - CERTIFICATES deleted it and re-created one there in the Ireland region for the same domain but I cannot assign it to any Distribution from there nor does it allow me to in the distribution itself as it does not show up as an option to attach. It would be great if anyone can assist. Thank you in advance.

thank you for the response

so I need to create a distribution in the Virginia (us-east-1) regtion BUT, I cannot attach the origin/source as its in Ireland or should I be able to? "You have no available origins in Virginia (us-east-1)."

So I will need to literally move the instance to Virginia otherewise its impossible to use a distribution. What is the point then of giving an option to select the other regions for the distribution?

Lightsail Distributions use Lightsail Certificates in the Virginia ( us-east-1 ) AWS Region only. This is because Lightsail Distributions are a global resource. The AWS Region such as Ireland of the origin/source for the Distribution such as an Instance with Static IP or a Load Balancer, is not the AWS Region for the Distribution or change the AWS Region needed for the Certificate.
