Server error 500 - Page is currently unavailable

0

Hi there,

I am not able to create an Aurora DB (Mysql), it does not matter which instance type or other option I choose, I always get a very long error in HTML format stating that the page is unavailable and it suggests to check AWS service health page "https://status.aws.amazon.com/" which of course the RDS service is listed as "service is operating normally" in the North America - west region.

Same issue is happening to a friend on a different AWS account, so it makes me think there is an issue with RDS in general.

Please help.

For those who are suffering because of this error and lack of response of a tech person, you need to create the VPC first with corresponding subnets and at least two availability zones, then select that VPC when creating the DB. The error is reproducible if you want the RDS wizard to create the VPC and subnets automatically.

  • Yes, this was my issue as well. Create DB was failing because the Create DB Subnet was generically failing. And the DB Subnet creation was failing because I was using IPv6 only subnets, but dual stack mode requires dual stack subnets that support IPv4 and IPv6.

Same happens to me when trying to create a db in ANY RDBMS. I've tried MariaDb, Sql Server.
