Why is AWS billing me for Lightsail when I cancelled the service 2 months ago?

0

I had 1 small Lightsail server, nothing else. I cancelled it 2 months ago, but am not only still being charged, I'm being told I will be charged into the future. WTF?

AND to MAKE IT WORSE, I literally can't open a support case because it doesn't find a service - because I removed it months ago - to open a case about. SO I CAN'T EVEN GET BILLING SUPPORT to remove the charges. THEFT by AWS!

Hello, you should be able to see a detailed view of the services you have being charged for from the Billing dashboard. Once signed in, visit this link and see "Charges by service": https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/billing/home?region=us-east-1#/bills

More details and screenshots of what it looks like are available in the documentation.

Lastly, regardless of services usage, creating an "account and billing" support case is available to all AWS customers. You can create one if you are unable to find the service or resource you are being charged for or have additional questions. To create a support case, visit the Support Center and select "Create case" and then "Account and Billing". From there you can choose the following options along with any additional information you have on the next page:

  • Service: Billing
  • Category: Charge Inquiry
  • Severity: General question

I hope this helps.

Hi there,

I'm so very sorry to hear about this experience. This certainly isn't the one we aim for.

We'd like to look into this for you. Please reach out to us by creating a support case under "Account and Billing." You can find instructions for how to create a support case here.
