Why am I billed for Pinpoint and SNS?

0

We have been using only AWS SNS for several years now. The first time we even found out about Pinpoint was when we had to change the phone numbers due to some new regulations for US carriers. Looks like we have been billed $4 a month for Pinpoint without ever using it. Can someone explain how does this work?

Thanks

Regarding Pinpoint, AWS charges a monthly fee for unused phone numbers in your account. If you have reserved any phone numbers for sending SMS messages or voice messages and you haven't used them, you will be billed for these.

Below is the extract from AWS documentation: "10-digit long code (10DLC) phone number 10DLC is a 10-digit phone number used only in the United States. In order to use a 10DLC number you'll need to first register your company and create a 10DLC campaign through the Amazon Pinpoint console. Afterwards, you can associate a 10DLC number with your 10DLC campaign. For more information, visit our 10DLC page.

There are required registration and monthly fees associated with using 10DLC.

Company related fees: Company registration: $4 one-time fee per company. If you resubmit your company (e.g. Company name, EIN), it will be assessed a $4 resubmission fee. Company vetting fee: $40 one-time-fee per vetting request."

To resolve this issue, I would recommend the following steps:

Check the AWS Billing Dashboard: This will show you detailed information about your charges. You can see which services are costing you money and drill down into the specifics.

Contact AWS Support: If you're still unsure why you're being charged for Pinpoint, the best action would be to contact AWS Support. They can provide you with a detailed breakdown of your charges and help you understand why they occurred.
