Increase AppStream 2.0 session DPI

0

We are publishing desktops in AppStream but have an issue where an app on the remote desktop's dialogue box is too large and users can't move it or get to all the buttons on it. The resolution on their remote session is nearly the same as their local machine. There's no way to resize a dialog box. This happens with some excel dialog boxes too. When we are using workspaces, this issue is solved by choosing "High DPI Mode" in the Windows Workspace client as mentioned in the article: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces/latest/userguide/high_dpi_support.html

I can't find anything similar with AppStream but the issue happens with the Web and Windows client version of AppStream.

Currently we don’t have DPI scaling feature in Appstream like we have in AWS Workspace.

There are ways to achieve your goal without changing the resolution, however, from an AWS end we are unable to action this type of requests from AWS customers as there are security and privacy policies in place but I'm happy to share insight in how to achieve your goal of better readable text/resolution.

This is dependent on how you are viewing the session (do share some insight on this it will be greatly appreciated) please confirm if you have have the resolution option set to match local display or if you are specifying a specific resolution. You can go to Appstream session -- Settings icon – Screen resolution – Match local display

Additionally Microsoft Windows has an option called "DPI Scaling" you can utilize this level to make text more readable [1]. As this would require a large number of hours to educate end-users or make the changes I have found some third party resources that make use of Group Policies(If you have domain joined fleet) to push out theses settings to the end-users review [2].

I do hope this allows you to achieve your goal.

Users are using the Appstream Windows client. Their local machines were set at 150 . The appstream desktop is set 100 without the ability to go smaller, the only option is to go larger. When are users set there local machines to 100 or 125 they were better able to see the dialog boxes in the appstream session.
