Changing AWS Saving Plan Instance Family Type with No Upfront Cost

0

I am seeking guidance on whether it's possible to modify the instance family type within an existing AWS Saving Plan with no upfront cost. Specifically, I am interested in transitioning from the "r4" instance family to the "r5a" instance family. Any insights or recommendations on the process and potential implications would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.

You cannot change the instance family for Savings Plans purchased with EC2 instance types.

You can't modify or cancel Savings Plans. To increase your hourly commitment, purchase additional Savings Plans. You can schedule your Savings Plans purchases for a specific date and time in the future. For more information, see Can I schedule my Savings Plan to renew automatically?

Once you purchase Savings Plan, you can't modify in the middle, however, you can always stack it up with additional Savings plan that you can purchase to optimize your cost over On-Demand! Another best option is to consider Compute Savings plan which would help to mitigate EC2 instance usage regardless of instance family, size, AZ, Region, OS or tenancy, and also apply to Fargate or Lambda usage. https://aws.amazon.com/savingsplans/compute-pricing/ You may also open up a billing support ticket and request the same and find out the possible options that you may have based on the usage/scenario specific to your use case.
