I apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with Amazon DataZone. The "Failed to add asset" error you're encountering in the Subscribed data page can occur due to various reasons. Here are a few things to check and consider:

  1. Ensure that the subscription request was properly approved. In Amazon DataZone, subscription requests for read access to assets are managed by subscription approvers. The approver is determined by the publishing agreement used when the asset was published to the DataZone catalog.

  2. Verify that your Amazon Redshift clusters (both the publishing and subscribing clusters) meet the Amazon Redshift datashare requirements. DataZone uses datashares to grant access when the source and target databases are in different accounts or clusters.

  3. Check if the asset is a managed Amazon Redshift asset. DataZone can automatically add subscribed assets to all data warehouse environments within the project, but this is specifically for managed Redshift assets.

  4. If you've recently added a new data warehouse environment to your project, note that subscribed Amazon Redshift assets may need to be manually added to this new environment.

  5. Confirm that your Redshift clusters are not in different regions, as cross-region data sharing is not supported by Amazon DataZone.

  6. Ensure you have the necessary permissions in both the publishing and subscribing projects to manage subscriptions and access Redshift resources.

If the issue persists after checking these points, you may need to review the specific error messages in your AWS CloudWatch logs or contact AWS support for more detailed troubleshooting. They can provide insights into any underlying issues that might be causing the "Failed to add asset" error in your specific setup.

  • the two redshift-server-less workgroup and namespace in the same account, they meet the Amazon Redshift datashare requirements. I can create datashare between the 2 databases.
