It looks like I can access it normally in my environment.
It is likely that it took a long time to update due to the length of the DNS TTL, etc.

It sounds like the issue is related to the web server config on your instance.
Please try following this guide https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/docs/en_us/articles/amazon-lightsail-editing-wp-config-for-distribution for config updates if using WordPress on your Lightsail instance as an example.

Thank you for your answer. I detached the Distribution, so it looks fine now.
Am I correct in understanding that this is an unusual situation? Is it typical for the URL to appear normal when the Distribution is attached?
If you have configured the domain correctly, I don't think the Lightsail domain will be displayed as a URL.
