Accessing account with no AWS administrator

0

Taken over business (I am 79% shareholder and now sole director).

Have notice that there's a payment problem on the registered card so logged on with my IAM user account to try to resolve but get access denied message:

Access denied to payments:GetPaymentStatus You don't have permission to payments:GetPaymentStatus. To request access, copy the following text and send it to your AWS administrator.

Problem: We don't know who the AWS Administrator is - we believe it is someone who left the business some time ago before I acquired it.

Question - how do I get Admin access to our account to be able to resolve the payment problem and any other admin issues that arise in future?

The process for root user recovery is outlined here: https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/forgot-aws-sign-in-credentials If you know what email address the root account is registered with, you recovery using the following steps: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/signin/latest/userguide/troubleshooting-sign-in-issues.html#troubleshoot-lost-email

If none of these will work, reach out to AWS Support for alternative options: https://support.aws.amazon.com/#/contacts/aws-account-support/

  • Hi

Thanks -but doesn't work as support pages won't accept case raising requests from an IAM user

I follow the link but get messages at top of page: You don't have the necessary IAM permissions. Basic plan will be used until this problem is fixed. An error occurred when we tried to process your request You don't have the necessary IAM permissions to view that support case.

    On the drop down menus

  • I have watched the video - it doesn't help 1 It says to ask the old administrator for log in details - I can't 2 It then says to ask our email administrator to give access to the relevant email account - I have tried testing each of the email accounts I think it might be by starting the root login process but in each case I get the message:

    • An AWS account with that sign-in information does not exist. Try again or create a new account. So I can't find the relevant email account 3 I have read the associated information page - this takes me to contacting AWS support When I try to do so I get error messages:
    • You don't have the necessary IAM permissions. Basic plan will be used until this problem is fixed. Where do I go next? Concerned as I'm seeking access to fix a payment problem and obviously want to do so as soon as possible to ensure our service keeps up and running Thanks
