This appears to be a sync issue between Docker Hub and Amazon ECR Public. Amazon ECR Public provides a public container image gallery that mirrors images from other repositories, including Docker Hub's official images. However, there can be delays in synchronization between the original source (Docker Hub) and ECR Public.
When pulling images from ECR Public, you might encounter situations where newer tags available in the original repository haven't yet been synchronized to ECR Public. In this case, the PHP 8.4.12 tag is available on Docker Hub but hasn't yet appeared in the ECR Public gallery.
If you need immediate access to the PHP 8.4.12 image, you have a few options:
- Pull directly from Docker Hub instead of ECR Public
- Use pull-through caching to copy the image from Docker Hub to a private ECR repository
- Wait for ECR Public to sync the newer tag from Docker Hub
Pull-through caching can be particularly useful if you're working in environments with limited internet access, as it allows you to copy container images from public repositories to your private ECR repositories.
