Browser based SSH into lightsail instance does not work

I have experienced some issues with getting a connection to my lightsail instance. I usually would SSH into my instance using the browser based solution, but for a few days i cannot build a connection. There is no error displayed, but the screen of the terminal window just remains black. I also tried using putty to connect to my instance but after a while it says "connection timed out". I have really no clue what it could be and where to start. i would be thankful for some help here.
