ontap - actual SSD capacity

0

When I'm trying to check the actual SSD storage behind ONTAP FSx it show less capacity then expected:

New ONTAP FSx 4TB - no data, only svm and volume are created.

Fsx.....::> vserver show-aggregates
                                       Available
Vserver Aggregate State Size Type SnapLock Type
-------------- -------------- ------- ---------- ------- --------------
svm01          aggr1          online      3.36TB ssd     non-snaplock

What I'm missing ? Does it reserve some SSD space for other operations ?

Thanks

Hi Alex,

There are some overheads in ONTAP which mean you don't get the full raw capacity of the disk as available space in an aggregate.

Have a read of the link below, which explains various overheads and sizing considerations for NetApp ONTAP.

  • Thanks, Tom it make sense. I wish that this 15% difference is visible and announced during FSx creation ...
