RDS m8g reserved instances

As of now, reserved instances for the m8g class in Amazon RDS are not yet available for purchase. The m8g instances, which are based on AWS Graviton4 processors, were recently introduced for RDS for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB. While these instances are generally available for on-demand usage, there is typically a delay between when new instance types are launched and when they become available for reserved instance purchases.

Amazon has not provided a specific timeline for when m8g reserved instances will be available. However, based on past patterns with new instance types, it's common for there to be a delay before reserved instances are offered.

For example, when r7g instances were introduced, there was a similar situation where they were initially only available on-demand. In that case, reserved instances became available a few months after the initial launch.

If you need to use reserved instances in the meantime, you might consider using the previous generation of Graviton-based instances (m7g) if they meet your performance requirements, as these are likely to have reserved instance offerings available.
