As a student learning AWS, I understand your situation with accidentally depleting your credits. This is a common learning experience, and there are several options available to help you continue your AWS education:
-
AWS Educate: This program is specifically designed for students. You can sign up using your educational institution email address to access AWS Promotional Credits once your application is approved. The verification process typically takes from a few minutes to a few days.
-
AWS Console Home Dashboard: Check the "Explore AWS" widget on your AWS Console Home. New AWS customers can earn an additional $100 in credits by completing learning activities like launching an EC2 instance, using Amazon Bedrock, setting up AWS Budgets, creating a Lambda web app, or setting up an Amazon RDS database.
-
AWS Skill Builder: This platform offers free digital training courses that can help you further your AWS knowledge without incurring costs.
-
AWS Events and Webinars: Keep an eye out for AWS-sponsored events, webinars, or workshops, which sometimes offer promotional credits to participants.
-
AWS CloudQuest: This free, game-based learning experience can help you prepare for certifications while potentially offering credits.
If you've incurred unexpected charges while learning, you can also contact AWS Billing Support directly to explain your situation. As a student, they may be able to assist you or provide guidance on avoiding future charges.
For future reference, I recommend setting up AWS Budgets alerts to notify you when your usage approaches certain thresholds, which can help prevent similar situations.
