Amazon Titan external data sources for current data

0

Hello,

Regarding the Bedrock Amazon Titan models , Premier and Express, when they are requested to make a weather forecast for next hours, does they have their own weather data source, or should the data be sent in the input ?
Generally, does Titan use in its answers, external data sources, for current data ?

Thank you,

Amazon Titan models, including those available through Amazon Bedrock, do not have built-in access to real-time or current external data sources, such as weather data. These models are foundation models that have been pre-trained on large datasets, but they do not automatically update or connect to external data sources for current information.

If you want to use an Amazon Titan model to make weather forecasts or provide information about current conditions, you would need to provide that data as part of your input or prompt. The model itself does not fetch or access external data sources for up-to-date information.

For tasks that require current data, such as weather forecasts, you would typically need to:

  1. Obtain the relevant data from an appropriate source (e.g., a weather API)
  2. Include that data in your prompt or input to the model
  3. Structure your prompt to guide the model in using the provided data to generate the desired output

It's important to note that while Amazon Titan models are powerful and versatile, they are not designed to autonomously access or incorporate real-time external data. Their knowledge is based on their training data, which has a cutoff date and does not include current events or data unless explicitly provided in the input.

If you need to work with current data regularly, you might consider using Amazon Bedrock's Knowledge Bases feature, which allows you to connect foundation models to various data sources. However, for real-time weather data, you would still need to set up a separate system to fetch and update that data before it could be used with the model.

  • Thank you for the answer,

Considering the above response (The model itself does not fetch or access external data), I have a situation that I could not understand with Amazon Bedrock - Titan Premier:

    1. I sent a request prompt with weather data for next 12 hours from current moment (2024.10.09 04:15:01), meaning until 15 PM.
    2. Titan response included the phrase: "For the evening (07:00 PM to 11:00 PM), the temperature will drop to a comfortable range of 17.92°C to 19.49°C". How did Titan gave this answer, because I did not sent weather data for 07:00 PM to 11:00 PM interval ? Was it some sort of extrapolation, or guess ?

UPDATE: after some research, I detected that it was an error in my code

Hello,
After some research, I learned that Bedrock Foundation Models can access external data using agents with action groups that contains Lambda functions that get external data.
Also, at this moment, the latest Amazon Foundation Model for Generative AI is Nova.
Have a good day,
