When you create a new AWS account, the Free Tier benefits should automatically be available to you. If AWS is indicating that you have an "old account" that's not eligible for the Free Tier, there could be a few possible explanations:
-
You might have previously created an AWS account using the same email address or payment method, and the system is recognizing this as a continuation of that account rather than a new one.
-
Your AWS account may have been created some time ago but not fully activated until now. The Free Tier period begins on the date you activate your account (by adding payment details, verifying your phone number, and choosing a support plan), not on the date you initially created it.
-
If you joined an AWS Organization as a member account, you might not see Free Tier benefits, as these are typically only available to management accounts.
To verify your Free Tier status, you can check the Billing console's Free Tier dashboard. If it shows "Your Free Tier has expired" or doesn't show any Free Tier tracking, this confirms you're not currently eligible.
If you believe this is an error and you genuinely created a new account that should be eligible for Free Tier benefits, I recommend contacting AWS Support directly for assistance with your specific account situation.

I have created aws account in 2021 but didn't provide payments details like credit card. Also didn't use the aws account. If I provide payments details now do, I am eligible for free tier services? | AWS re:Post
