Amazon Connect Porting Numbers

0

Hi everyone,

I am trying to figure out if Amazon Connect can be used in a country like Sudan.

The requirements are quite basic:

  • We need to support both inbound and outbound interactions.
  • Some inbound calls may originate outside of Sudan.
  • Outbound calling may involve numbers outside of Sudan.

I have reviewed the following docs and I find the info confusing: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/connect/latest/adminguide/about-porting.html https://d1v2gagwb6hfe1.cloudfront.net/Amazon_Connect_Telecoms_Coverage.pdf

For Sudan, it has the following information: Service Type: Outbound Number Availability: Red National Number: Red International Dialing: Green Porting Available: Red Multi-Carrier Available: Green Custom CallerId: Red

Does this only apply to outbound? Does it mean inbound calling and porting of numbers for inbound is supported?
I don't understand how a number can't be ported, but international dialing is supported.

Thank you!

So when you are reading the Telephony coverage guide. The line where it says Sudan with only Outbound, that means it is currently not possible to get or port over Sudan DID or TFN number for inbound purposes, and we only allow outbound calls to Sudan destination. It says ALL in the region column meaning your agents can make outbound calls to Sudan in any of the region. For other countries that is supported for acquiring phone number and porting, it will have a line for DID, TFN, UIFN stating the limitation if there are any.

And the outbound call will be treated as a "International Outbound" call. The definition for each column is actually at the beginning. For international outbound calls, it means:

International Outbound:- Describes whether Amazon Connect provides calling to another country using the number as CLID. For example, calling from a US number to a UK number (+1-455-555-1212 to +4477711223344). If checked, international outbound provides best effort to present the CLID of the number claimed in Amazon Connect number to the destination recipient.
