Creation of load balancer in Beanstalk

0

While creating Environment for a Beanstalk Java App at WebServer tier, I get the following error: Creating load balancer failed Reason: Resource handler returned message: "This AWS account currently does not support creating load balancers. For more information, please contact AWS Support. (Service: ElasticLoadBalancingV2, Status Code: 400, Request ID: --cut--) (SDK Attempt Count: 1)" (RequestToken: --cut--, HandlerErrorCode: InvalidRequest) I suppose my account is enabled to load balancers creation, since if I use EC2 console to create an Application Load Balancer, the component is created with no errors.

as for the provided suggestions:

  1. Wait 24-48 hours: done with no success
  2. Try a different region: tried in 2 different regions with no succes
  3. Use a shared load balancer: load balancer creation on EC2 console works, but I expect the automated procedure to work as well, to avoid future update/deployment problems

This error is common for new AWS accounts and can occur for several specific reasons even when your account appears to be functioning normally for other services.

When you create an Elastic Beanstalk environment with load balancing enabled, Elastic Beanstalk attempts to create a load balancer on your behalf. By default, since October 2018, Elastic Beanstalk uses an Application Load Balancer (ALB) when you enable load balancing for an environment.

For an Application Load Balancer to be created in Elastic Beanstalk, your environment must be in a VPC with subnets in at least two Availability Zones. All new AWS accounts include default VPCs that meet this requirement, but it's worth checking your VPC configuration.

Since you can create an ALB directly through the EC2 console but not through Elastic Beanstalk, there are a few potential solutions:

  1. Wait 24-48 hours: Sometimes these issues resolve themselves after a waiting period for new accounts as services become fully available.

  2. Try a different region: The issue might be region-specific.

  3. Use a shared load balancer: Since you can create an ALB through the EC2 console, consider creating one there first and then configuring your Elastic Beanstalk environment to use this shared load balancer instead of creating a dedicated one. You can do this during environment creation by selecting the "shared" option when prompted for load balancer type.

  4. Contact AWS Support: As the error message suggests, reaching out to AWS Support is the most direct way to resolve account-specific issues.

If you need to proceed immediately, using a shared load balancer that you've already created through the EC2 console is likely your best option.
