I have oracle rds bring your own license. Oracle support is asking to run $TFA_HOME/bin/tfactl diagcollect -srdc DBDDLERRORS

Anybody has experience with this? Aws supports said they cannot run it

I apologize, but there seems to be a misunderstanding in your question. AWS RDS for Oracle does not provide direct access to run Oracle support tools like TFA (Trace File Analyzer) on the database instance.

For RDS Oracle instances using the Bring Your Own License (BYOL) model, AWS manages the underlying infrastructure, while you retain responsibility for Oracle database administration and support. In this model, you would typically contact Oracle Support directly for database-specific issues.

However, AWS does not allow direct access to the operating system or the ability to run low-level diagnostic tools like TFA on RDS instances. This is because RDS is a managed service, and AWS maintains control over the underlying infrastructure for security and consistency reasons.

If Oracle Support is requesting you to run this specific diagnostic command, you should inform them that you're using Amazon RDS for Oracle, which doesn't allow direct execution of such tools. You may need to work with both Oracle Support and AWS Support to find alternative ways to gather the necessary diagnostic information.

For infrastructure-related issues (such as those involving the operating system, storage, network, or hardware), you should contact AWS Support if you have an active AWS Support plan. They can assist with RDS-specific concerns and work within the constraints of the managed service environment.

In cases where advanced diagnostics are required, you might need to consider using Amazon RDS Custom for Oracle, which provides more control and access to the underlying operating system. However, this would require migrating your database to an RDS Custom instance.

To deliver a managed service experience, Amazon RDS doesn't provide shell access to ADRCI. To perform diagnostic tasks for your RDS for Oracle DB instance, use the Amazon RDS package rdsadmin.rdsadmin_adrci_util.

Please refer to the documentation for listing Incidents, Problems, Trace files and uploading to Oracle Support https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/Appendix.Oracle.CommonDBATasks.Diagnostics.html
