I understand your concern about being charged for AWS services after you believe you deactivated them. However, it's important to note that simply stopping or deactivating an EC2 instance does not necessarily mean you won't incur charges. Some resources associated with the instance, such as Elastic IP addresses or EBS volumes, may continue to generate costs even when the instance is stopped.
To address your situation, I recommend the following steps:
-
Review your bill in detail to understand exactly which services and resources you're being charged for. This will help you identify if there are any lingering resources you may have overlooked.
-
Double-check that you've properly terminated (not just stopped) all EC2 instances and deleted any associated resources like EBS volumes or Elastic IPs.
-
Contact AWS Support directly by opening a case under the "Account and Billing" category. This type of support is free of charge. Explain your situation in detail, including the dates you used the service and when you believe you deactivated everything.
-
When contacting support, politely request a review of your charges and ask if a refund is possible for the period after you deactivated your services.
-
For future use, consider setting up AWS Budgets and Billing Alarms to help you monitor your spending and avoid unexpected charges.
Remember, while AWS does offer a Free Tier for many services, some usage may still incur charges. It's always important to fully understand the pricing structure and ensure you've properly terminated all resources when you're done using them.

You need to open a support case to address the billing issue as mentioned above. The billing support will be able to determine if charges can be cancelled or credited. Do not assume that you can just not pay a bill without resolving the issue and seeing updates in your account.
