SMTP timeout error from Amazon EC2

0

Hello,

we recently moved one or our VPS server to an EC2 Amazon AWS, and we are experimenting problems when sending email from our web application to remote SMTP server. We're a SaaS complany and we're planning to move our infrastracture to AWS. Foe example problems to exchange server to port 587 but others too.

We cannot explain as firewall configured to our EC2 instance is permitting all to outbound. We read about the possibility that we need to ask Amazon for removing some SMTP blocks that may be possibly active by default.

Thank you

This is correct. SMTP is blocked by default and you have to ask for this to be removed.

Details can be found here https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/ec2-port-25-throttle

  • Thank you so much for the kind answer. I'll follow what stated in that page. Is it the same when connecting to remote port 587? Thank you.

  • Im pretty sure it may also be blocked and requires the same process. I think it’s also a port on SES that’s blocked until you move to production out of sandbox.
