Running Hyperledger Besu instance on EC2
I'm trying to start a node for a private implementation of Besu on my EC2 instance. However, every time I try to start the node, it throws a java.net.ConnectException immediately on start. There is no message given, no cause, just throws the exception immediately and dies. I've checked the security groups, and all the necessary ports are open. I tried it with and without UFW and no success. I also tried using ports that are already standard defined but not commonly used UDP/TCP ports, and that did not work either. It runs successfully in our local dev environment, so I know the difference is environmental and not a code issue, but I'm not sure where else to look. The Java version is the same, the compiled jars are the same, and I've tried everything I can think of with regards to opening ports on the EC2 instance.
Can't Create Channel in AWS Managed Blockchain
Hi, I've encountered an error while following this step in the AMB docs: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/managed-blockchain/latest/hyperledger-fabric-dev/get-started-create-channel.html#get-started-create-channel-create-channel When I execute the command for creating a channel: docker exec cli peer channel create -c mychannel \ -f /opt/home/mychannel.pb -o $ORDERER \ --cafile /opt/home/managedblockchain-tls-chain.pem --tls I got this error message: Error: failed to create deliver client for orderer: orderer client failed to connect to orderer.n-2xq2mxyg2vhf5cmce4ystjjgda.managedblockchain.ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com:30001: failed to create new connection: context deadline exceeded Please tell me if the error message means something. Thanks.
Private Managed Blockchain CA expiration date
I'm are using Hyperledger Fabric on AWS Managed Blockchain and I would like to know what is the expiration date of the certificate authority's certificates, if they expire at all. I created the Fabric network according to the Managed Blockchain documentation.
AWS Blockchain Template issues
I've just finished setting up a Ethereum Stack using the AWS Blockchain Template according to the docs here I've sshed to the EC2 instance (bastion host) from my local machine and I can hit the EthStats URL via curl from the bastion host but when I try to go tot he url from chrome, it gives 'This site can’t be reached' error, even though I've setup a FireProxy as per the instructions in the docs. How do I connect to the Ethereum URLs given in outputs of my Ethereum stack in the AWS CloudFormation console?
Metamask not connecting to Private Ethereum network setup using AWS Ethereum BlockChain Template
Hi, I have created a private Ethereum block chain using the AWS provided Ethereum Blockchain template in us-east-1. I have followed the following How-To https://docs.aws.amazon.com/blockchain-templates/latest/developerguide/blockchain-templates-ethereum.html#blockchain-ethereum-prereq-vpc The stack gets up, i can see the stats and explorer urls using the bastion host. But Metamask does not connects to the provided url on port 8545. What could be the reason. although port 8545 responds to telnet, this means its not blocked. I am head over heels to find a solution so that metamask connects and i can see my chain.Chain ID i have given in the stack is 4444
Managed Blockchain and Cloud Storage
Two questions. First, if you create a network on Amazon Managed Blockchain, then do you necessarily need to use AWS cloud storage? Or would it be possible to divide up the cloud storage among different providers? Second, Do all other members of an AMB network also need to use AWS cloud storage? If organization B wanted to join the network and insisted on using some other cloud storage provider, would it be possible for them to join the network? Or would the network operator need to launch a peer node on their behalf, using another AWS account?
Access contents stored in LevelDB?
Hi there, Is there a way that I can see how AWS managed blockchain stores transaction blocks on the state database, including metadata? Also is there a visual gui that I can use to view such content? I am aware that I can query via smart contract the assets I created but can I also see the additional metadata such as timestamps, hashes, etc. ? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Where to get started as a C/C++/C# developer?
Hello everyone, I've been a software and game developer for well over a decade, and I feel very at home with C, C++ and C#/.NET. I've done a lot of programming with DirectX SDKs and Unity, as well as desktop and mobile development. However, I don't really know much at all about the web and networking. But now I'm becoming very interested in what kinds of things I can do with AWS in game development, as well as with blockchain, AI/ML and cloud computing power. There seems to be more AWS services and packages than I can count though, and I'm really not sure which ones I should be pursuing and trying to learn more about and which ones are irrelevant to me and my job. The list of services, SDKs and packages is as impressive and inspiring as it is overwhelming and confusing! I'd like to be able to deploy some .NET applications to AWS to provide remote APIs for games and applications. To start with and get the hang of it, I just want to make a little minigame that lives on a server that a Unity or Unreal game can interact with through http requests. And I'll incrementally add some features to it as I start to get the hang of it. I'd also like to do some experimentation with blockchain software and services and see what kinds of interesting things can be accomplished with it. And beyond that, I'd eventually like to get into using AI/ML to accomplish goals in games and apps, harness cloud-based CPU/GPU processing power for heavy-lifting and even setup some real-time multiplayer game servers. I just don't know what tools/services/packages I need to dive into and start figuring out. I've found [the Visual Studio 2022 AWS package here](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=AmazonWebServices.AWSToolkitforVisualStudio2022&ssr=false#overview), as well as [this AWS GitHub page](https://github.com/aws/dotnet) for .NET. I've also heard about Lambda. I really have no idea which ones are relevant to me or where I should start with this. To begin with, I want to run a .NET application on a server that applications can query and interact with and have it store and supply data for them, offer some remote APIs and requests, etc. I'd also potentially be interested in running some native C/C++ modules on servers. Can someone point me in the right direction and tell me what I need to set up and dive into first? I'm doing this in my free time when I'm not working on projects for work, so my time is very limited and researching and learning the wrong things would be a big setback for me. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated!
Adding Public Blockchain to AWS Managed Blockchain
Hi All, I recall from a few sessions at re:Invent last month that it was mentioned AWS is looking at expanding the blockchain options going forward for the AWS Managed Blockchain service. I volunteer with a small blockchain project that has our own distributed chain and would like to see if/how we could get added to the service as it would be a good option for future people who want to build on and utilize our chain. Does anyone know how to go about getting on the list (if one even exists) of chains to be added to the service? I couldn't open a support ticket as my personal account is just on the free account and figured I probably shouldn't use my corporate account for this query.
QLDB Restore Backups Option?
A customer is using QLDB. I have seen that you can export journal data from QLDB directly to S3 by submitting the journal export request: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/qldb/latest/developerguide/export-journal.html Can this be seen as a traditional DB backup? Secondly, is there an option of 'importing' that QLDB backup into an existing ledger or into a new ledger? Thirdly, are there any plans to incorporate automatic QLDB backups into the AWS Backup service? I know QLDB is relatively new, but knowing this would calm customers already using QLDB that backups are also thing with QLDB. Thank you in advance.
Unable to change Delete Protection on QLDB Ledger
Hi AWS Team, I'm trying to delete a QLDB Ledger which requires disabling Delete Protection. When I attempt to save the Ledger setting after making this change, I'm met with the error: _The encryption feature for updating an AWS KMS customer managed CMK (customer master key) is not enabled for account 344#####552. To add your account to the allow list, contact AWS Support._ Do I really need to request access to this to be able to adjust the ledger settings? Thanks, Kent.
