[Announcement] AWS Snowball devices are now available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region

Posted On: Sep 7, 2022 AWS Snowball devices are now available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region. AWS Snowball, a member of the AWS Snow Family, is an edge computing, data migration, and edge storage device that comes in two configurations - Snowball Edge Storage Optimized and Snowball Edge Compute Optimized. The Snowball Edge Storage Optimized device provides 80 TB of Amazon S3 compatible object storage and is designed for local storage and large-scale data transfer. The Snowball Edge Compute Optimized device provides 52 vCPUs, 7.68 TB of NVMe SSD storage, 42TB of HDD storage, and 208 GB of RAM for use cases like advanced machine learning and full motion video analysis in disconnected environments. You can use Snowball Edge Compute Optimized devices for data collection, machine learning and processing, and storage in environments with intermittent connectivity, like manufacturing, industrial, and transportation environments, or in extremely remote locations, like during military or maritime operations, before shipping the devices back to AWS. All AWS Snowball devices can be rack mounted and clustered together to build larger temporary installations. For Regional availability, check the Regional Service Availability pages for the latest information. For temporary deployments, you can choose the on-demand pricing option, which includes 10 days of device use and a per-day fee for every additional day you use the device before sending it back to AWS. For longer-term deployments, AWS provides discounted 1-year and 3-year pricing. For pricing information, visit the AWS Snowball pricing page. To get started, visit the AWS Management Console. To learn more, visit the AWS Snowball Edge documentation or the AWS Snowball product page.

[Announcement] AWS Snowcone SSD is now available in the Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Canada (Central) and South America ( Sao Paulo)

The [AWS Snowcone](https://aws.amazon.com/snowcone/) solid state drive (SSD) device is now available in AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Canada (Central) and South America( Sao Paulo) regions adding to our growing list of regions already offering Snowcone SSD including AWS US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon) and US West (San Francisco) Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Europe (London). AWS Snowcone is the smallest device of the [AWS Snow Family](https://aws.amazon.com/snow/) of edge computing, edge storage, and data migration devices. Snowcone is available in both hard disk drive (HDD) and solid state drive (SSD) device types. Both device types are portable, rugged, and secure – small and light enough to fit in a backpack, and are able to withstand harsh environments. Customers use Snowcone to deploy applications at the edge, and to collect data, process it locally, and move it to AWS either offline by shipping the device to AWS, or online by using [AWS DataSync](https://aws.amazon.com/datasync/) on Snowcone to send the data to AWS over the network. Edge locations often lack the space, power, and cooling needed for data center IT equipment to run applications and data migrations. With 2 CPUs, 4 GB of memory, 8 TB of usable storage on Snowcone HDD, 14 TB of usable storage on Snowcone SSD, and wired networking, Snowcone runs edge computing workloads with select Amazon EC2 instances or AWS IoT Greengrass to migrate data to AWS. Snowcone is small, approximately 9 inches x 6 inches x 3 inches, weighs 4.5 pounds (lbs.), and supports operation via battery for mobility. To setup and manage Snowcone, you can use [AWS OpsHub](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/snowball/latest/snowcone-guide/aws-opshub.html), a graphical user interface that enables you to rapidly deploy edge computing workloads and simplify data migration to the cloud. DataSync comes pre-installed on the device to move data online to and from Amazon S3, Amazon EFS, or Amazon FSx for Windows File Server, as well as between AWS Storage services. Access the [AWS Region services list](https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/global-infrastructure/regional-product-services/) to see where AWS Snowcone is available. To learn more, visit the [AWS Snowcone documentation](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/snowball/latest/snowcone-guide/snowcone-what-is-snowcone.html) and [Snowcone product page](https://aws.amazon.com/snowcone/). To get started, order Snowcone in the [AWS Snow Family console](https://console.aws.amazon.com/importexport/home).
