WorkDoc File Share
I am trying to move an existing file share from a local server to workdocs to create an online fileshare for my group (windows users). I am having a hard time getting the files to show up in workdocs. I have tried two methods to try to move the files: 1. I try to use the 'Upload' function from the web interface. This is slow, doesnt really show progress, and seems to randomly time out. This means I have to restart the process repeately and hope to get all the files. 2. I try using a combination of robocopy and the mapped W: drive. This ensures that all files are moved, and are the most current version (until I can cut over to the online share). This seems to work for the machine that does the transfers, but the files dont show up on the web version, and it is hit or miss with others via the mapped drive. This seems to be a sync issue (as that machine is aways syncing) but I cant track the results, so not sure. I have spent weeks trying to get these files to match up, with very mixed results. Any suggestions? Is this product just not capable of this type of service (i.e. I should try something else). Any help would be appreciated.
Problem Setting up EC2 as Airgap Server with Client VPN Endpoint
Afternoon All, I'm a (very) inexperienced user who's keen to learn and appreciate I might have bitten off far more than I can chew with this. I'm working on a project where we need to share UDP packets between two companies with the packets going in both directions. I want to setup an airgap server where exchange of data could take place. I have an EC2 server with an external IP address (that I SSH into) as the airgap machine and a VPN client endpoint linked to the subnet the EC2 instance is in. My intent was to send UDPs from my company system to the airgap on a particular port say 3005, for example and then listen on a different port, say 4005, for example, on the same EC2 instance for UDP packets from the other company. And use socat to send packets from 4005 to the client IP on my Windows machine (currently set in the Endpoint to 188.8.131.52/16 (yes I know the subnet is probably far too big for this)). I have successfully created the VPN client endpoint, downloaded the configuration file and can connect in from my Windows10 laptop using OpenVPN client. I can send packets from my Windows10 machine to the Airgap EC2 instance and see that it arrives on port 3005 as expected using tcpdump. I can also ping from the Windows machine to the Airgap server... so the connection is working in one direction. The issue I have is that the connection does not work sending packets from the Airgap EC2 instance to my machine via the VPN... If I run socat with various options of udp-recvfrom or udp-listen and udp-sendto or udp-datagram I get no packets arriving at my Windows machine. Neither can I ping the Windows machine from the EC2 Airgap instance (I have tried this with Windows Firewall turned off to test whether the FW was getting in the way) My questions then: 1. Is it possible to do what I want? 2. WHat am I doing wrong and how can I fix? 3. Is my assumption about an EC2 instance being a good way of setting up an airgap server like this correct? Many Thanks G
Using S3 bucket as a file server for the public
We basically want to collect files from external customers into a file server. We were thinking of using the S3 bucket as the file server that customers can interact with directly. Is it possible to accomplish this where we create a bucket for each customer, and he can be given a link to the S3 bucket that also serves as the UI for him to drag and drop his files into directly? i. He shouldn't have to log-in to AWS or create an AWS account ii. He should directly interact with only his S3 bucket (drag-drop, add, delete files), there shouldn't be a way for him to check other buckets. We will probably create many S3 buckets for our customers in the same AWS account. His entry point into the S3 bucket UI is via a link (S3 bucket URL perhaps) If such a thing is possible - would love some general pointers.
Permanent access to WorkDocs for external parties
Hi, I want to create a permanent link with acess to a WorkDocs folder to anyone (inc. external parties : selling partners/vendors) who has the link. They don't need any write permissions, just to download an Excel file we will share with them. Is WorkDocs the best tool to do that? Reason we are not using other tools e.g. media central is because the file is undergoing updates, and we want the latest version to be always be accessed via one single link. Alternative would be to create a link with access to a specific file (instead of a folder) as long as we can keep updating that file Thanks
Improving copying speed across EC2 instances
Dear community, **Background:** We are working on a project where we have to transfer .db files from one ec2 instance to another more frequently. Both the instances are r5.2xlarge. The .db file is around 100 GB in size. We are using the Bastion host to access the actual EC2 instances. We are trying to copy a file from the bastion host because the actual EC2 instances cannot connect to each other. **Issue:** When we try to copy the file using scp command, the first 16GB is normally fast, but it slows down very much after that, taking a huge amount of time to complete the transfer. We have tried many times and this issue is reproducible. ***Command: ***scp -3 ec2-user@ xx.x.xx.xxx:source file address firstname.lastname@example.org:destination file address The scp -3 used in the command is to avoid the actual files copying via Bastion host. **Expectation:** Can you please provide us some suggestions or recommendations to improve the copying speed across these instances? Thanks in advance.
How to resolve Network Error -53 when trying to mount gateway on windows os?
So I'm trying to mount the storage gateway I've created on AWS as per this guide : https://docs.aws.amazon.com/filegateway/latest/files3/GettingStartedAccessFileShare.html So far I've created a gateway which is being hosted on Amazon EC2 instance. Afterwards I created the file share of type NFS and now I'm trying to mount it using this command: mount –o nolock -o mtype=hard [GatewayVMIPAddress]:/FileShareName WindowDriveLetter: However I keep getting this error: Network Error - 53 which is "the network path was not found". So far I've tried adding/changing port requirements of my ec2 instance by adding what amazon support recommends https://docs.aws.amazon.com/storagegateway/latest/userguide/Requirements.html#networks but still getting same error. Not sure what else I can try? Any help?
