How to plot a dynamic line chart for mem_total vs mem_used?
I am trying to plot a line chart for mem_total vs mem_used for all my ec2s in a single widget. I need this chart to be dynamically updated (when the instance is terminated and new machine comes up it should be able to identify and update). Currently i am using metric explorer widget where I get mem_used and mem_total as separate line charts. I want to have mem_total vs mem_used in a single line chart
Running Hyperledger Besu instance on EC2
I'm trying to start a node for a private implementation of Besu on my EC2 instance. However, every time I try to start the node, it throws a java.net.ConnectException immediately on start. There is no message given, no cause, just throws the exception immediately and dies. I've checked the security groups, and all the necessary ports are open. I tried it with and without UFW and no success. I also tried using ports that are already standard defined but not commonly used UDP/TCP ports, and that did not work either. It runs successfully in our local dev environment, so I know the difference is environmental and not a code issue, but I'm not sure where else to look. The Java version is the same, the compiled jars are the same, and I've tried everything I can think of with regards to opening ports on the EC2 instance.
user data on EC2 not working with CDK
Hi team, I created an ec2 instance with CDK and added used data on it : ``` const userData = readFileSync("lib/my-script.sh", "utf8"); instance.addUserData(userData); instance.applyRemovalPolicy(RemovalPolicy.DESTROY); ``` my-script.sh : ``` #! /bin/bash sudo su yum -y update # adding MYSQL client to connect to RDS(MYSQL) instance. sudo yum install mysql ``` but when i connect to my ec2 instance via the session manager tab and do MySQL command I have this error : `sh: mysql: command not found` looks like the user data script was not run. I'm I missing something? how can I know if the user data script was successfully run on the ec2 instance? found this on : `/var/log/cloud-init-output.log` ``` Sep 15 00:17:50 cloud-init[xxxx]: util.py[WARNING]: Failed running /var/lib/cloud/instance/scripts/part-001 Sep 15 00:17:50 cloud-init[xxxx]: cc_scripts_user.py[WARNING]: Failed to run module scripts-user (scripts in /var/lib/cloud/instance/scripts) Sep 15 00:17:50 cloud-init[xxxx]: util.py[WARNING]: Running module scripts-user (<module 'cloudinit.config.cc_scripts_user' from '/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/cloudinit/config/cc_scripts_user.pyc'>) failed ci-info: no authorized ssh keys fingerprints found for user ec2-user. ``` thank you!
PCIe device passthrough on bare-metal EC2 instances
Hi I am trying to run some experiments which require passing one or more of the local NVMe SSDs on a bare-metal EC2 instance into a VM. I am running Linux as the host OS and would normally leverage kvm and vfio-pci to get this done. On my EC2 instance however I see no IOMMU groups or vfio kernel module. I have heard that PCIe passthrough is possible on EC2 bare-metal. Can I get some details on how to do that? I would prefer to use Ubuntu 22.04 as my bare-metal OS but if I need to use something else Linux based I can. Thanks Stephen
Progress of migrating C4/M4 instances to nitro hypervisor.
In this article: https://perspectives.mvdirona.com/2021/11/xen-on-nitro-aws-nitro-for-legacy-instances/ it mentioned that nitro can support legacy instances. But I can't find an official notice of this. Can you confirm this article is correct and if so, can you tell if M4/C4 instances are now supported or a time frame. Also, when they are supported, does this mean that the bidirectional serial console will also be supported for this legacy instances?
How can I retrieve the 'platformDetails' property via the EC2 API?
I'm using the EC2 API's DescribeInstances method, which returns 'platform' but not 'platformDetails': https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/APIReference/API_DescribeInstances.html I can see both 'platform' and 'platformDetails' properties for my EC2 VMs when viewing them in the admin console, and they are described in the Instance type: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/APIReference/API_Instance.html How can I retrieve the 'platformDetails' via the web API? Thanks
Patchbaseline and RHEL8 not seeing correct package
I have a RHEL8 instance that has containers-common 2:1-35 installed. When running a patchbaseline, for some reason it thinks it should have containers-common 1:1.3.1-5 and downgrades the version 2. It then performs an upgrade back to 2:1-35. It seems to me like the scan does not see the version 2 in the repository. I would appreciate any ideas as to why this happens.

Instance had drive errors and is now stuck
DISREGARD - The instance is finally responding and has restarted.... Hi, My instance s stuck 'Running' after multiple requests to 'Reboot', 'Stop' and 'Force Stop'. It crashed approx 5 hours ago. On the console it showed a stream of disk errors. I tried a reboot which was ignored. Then I tried a Stop. At that point the serial console started to refuse to connect since it is "stopped" except the Summary pages shows it "Running". I have also tried a "Forced Stop". The summary page shows "Running" but the serial console page says it is not running. The Monitoring data has also stopped. This instance should be serving data and is vital to my business. Could you please restart the instance, I need it running? i Many thanks!!
