App Runner: Container access to AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID and AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY
Hi, I have an app runner instance with NodeJS14 + Strapi from a container, for some of the plugins I'm using they require an access key id, secret access key. How do I handle this situation? it doesn't look like they are set as environment variables by default? Thanks.
App Runner fails to update on any environment variable change
I have an App Runner service successfully running using a VPC connector. It is using port 3000 and running an HTTP health check on that port on the endpoint `/health`. I can see those requests in the logs. Everything seems fine. When I add a new environment variable via the console, the update fails after the health check (it does not say that the health check **failed**, but the logs stop there; it appears to timeout and then rollback). It mentions "service logs" but I do not see any logs in CloudWatch with any additional details. ```09-21-2022 02:23:38 PM [AppRunner] Service status is set to RUNNING. 09-21-2022 02:23:37 PM [AppRunner] Service update failed. For details, see service logs. 09-21-2022 02:17:00 PM [AppRunner] Performing health check on port '3000'. 09-21-2022 02:16:59 PM [AppRunner] Provisioning instances and deploying image. 09-21-2022 02:16:54 PM [AppRunner] Service status is set to OPERATION_IN_PROGRESS. 09-21-2022 02:16:53 PM [AppRunner] Service update started. ``` Note: I tried adding a dummy variable that has no effect on the app, and the same result occurred. Something appears to be broken here on App Runner.
App Runner connection to s3
I have deployed my backend API to App Runner. I want this API to be able to read and write to an s3 bucket that I have, but I consistently get timeout errors when performing this operation. I have written python code to read and write from s3 using the boto3 library and locally this works using my own credentials. However when I deploy my API to App Runner the request times out. I have added a bucket policy to allow the App Runner Instance role to read and write, and I have added read / write permissions to the App Runner Instance role. What can I do to resolve this? Thanks!
Workspace date & time whilst having the instance open
Hello. Having the Amazon Workspace application open on my running ( 24/7 ) machine, shows the right time in Excel formula =NOW(), however, if I do not have the application open, the time inside excel shows 1 hour behind, each time my script is running on the virtual machine, although the published sheets ( as html ) time save shows the right one. Any idea what's going on or why is this happening? Pictures attached to see the time when the script was running, what excel file shows inside of =NOW() and time & date of saved files from excel. ![Date & time showed in task scheduler](/media/postImages/original/IMXxYkV0HhQnqOavZSNnrIKg) ![Date & time showed in excel sheet with forumula =now() ](/media/postImages/original/IM1Mk9hwdVRnCkFG7SGwM7ew) ![Saved excel sheets as html date & time ](/media/postImages/original/IMnEIbL04CQoOIe41pnlbDhQ) Any help is appreciated! I need the time to show right even if I m logged in on my personal laptop to that application and if I m not.
App runner eliminates environment variable settings
When I do a re-deploy of my application hosted in App Runner, the environment variables configuration is lost, i.e. there is no persistence. How can I fix this? When redeploying, the following variables always remain: * COPILOT_APPLICATION_NAME * COPILOT_ENVIRONMENT_NAME * COPILOT_SERVICE_NAME However, I have more variables that I would like to persist with, help me please
Can AppRunner provide more helpful logs
Hi, I'm using AppRunner for a prototype application (building from Githib repo) and have had it running successfully. Sometimes however, deployment fails at an early stage with event logs as follows: ``` 08-23-2022 10:09:42 AM [AppRunner] Failed to create pipeline for automatic deployments. 08-23-2022 10:08:50 AM [AppRunner] Service status is set to OPERATION_IN_PROGRESS. 08-23-2022 10:08:50 AM [AppRunner] Service creation started. ``` there is no further information in the deployment logs either. Can AppRunner provide more helpful logs as to what is the problem? E.g. it an AWS issue, or something wrong with the github connector, or something else? Some reason would really help to figure out what is going on.
How do I know why my application is not being deployed?
Hello everyone, I am using the AWS app runner service to deploy an application coded with Flask. Here is my yaml file "apprunner" : ``` version: 1.0 runtime: python3 build: commands: build: - yum -y install git - pip install -r requirements.txt - pip install -e git+https://github.com/twintproject/twint.git@origin/master#egg=twint run: command: python app.py ``` I tested the last command locally and my web application worked perfectly. But when I am creating the service and deploying it, I get the following logs : ``` 08-18-2022 05:18:45 PM [AppRunner] Failed to deploy your application source code. 08-18-2022 05:10:36 PM [Build] Successfully tagged application-image:latest 08-18-2022 05:10:36 PM [Build] Successfully built ecfdf95e65ad 08-18-2022 05:10:36 PM [Build] ---> ecfdf95e65ad 08-18-2022 05:10:36 PM [Build] Removing intermediate container c58cebc4e5d9 08-18-2022 05:10:36 PM [Build] ---> Running in c58cebc4e5d9 08-18-2022 05:10:36 PM [Build] Step 7/7 : EXPOSE 8080 ``` How can I get more informations about what was wrong in my code ?
Copying files from AWS Appruner to S3
I am planning to use AWS Apprunner to run my load test using JMeter. The Apprunner service is configured to use my github repo which contains only 2 files(Jmx file and shell script which to downloads jmeter and run the load test)— till this part is working fine. However I am looking for option to copy the test result file into S3 bucket. One option which I could think of is create rest call with API gateway for S3 put and use the curl command within the apprunner container after the test completion. Also I have set one environment variable while creating Apprunner service - How can I access it in above shell. example: MYTESTNAME = CUSTOMER-VAL I tried echo $MYTESTNAME - it prints as **$MYTESTNAME** Appreciate if someone can help.
Cannot delete, update nor deploy an apprunner service
Hello all, I were playing with AWS app runner. I set observability configuration through a terraform deployment script and it started to fail on every operation. Deployment, update and deletion fails without a reason, at least not reported in the logs. Not sure what to do now.
AppRunner and SES
Hello, New to AWS, and I'm trying to configure a .NET application running in AppRunner to send email via SMTP through SES. For purposes of testing (still in sandbox mode) I verified my sending and receiving addresses and created the SMTP user/password. When sending the email, I'm getting a generic .NET timeout exception: System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: The operation has timed out. I tried both ports 587 and 25. I deployed the same project (identical code) to both Fargate and Elastic Beanstalk, both are able to successfully send email so I don't believe it's an issue related to the code. Based on timeout, my thoughts are on a permission issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
