How to do offline export for Application Discovery Agent date?
We have a customer with security concerns, and who does not want the Application Discovery Service Agent to be able to access the internet. Can we export the collected utilization data from each server as excel or CSV file from the server itself, without using the AWS Console? The FAQS says that this is possible: *The Discovery Agent can be operated in an offline test mode that writes data to a local file so customers can review collected data before enabling online mode.* Link: https://aws.amazon.com/application-discovery/faqs/ Can anyone confirm that this can be done offline without outside access to the server? If so, how? Thanks in advance.
Appmesh: Envoy times out after 15 seconds
Hello, CX have below workflow and would like to know if we can increase the time out. ~~ VirtualGateway -> GatewayRoute -> Virtual Service->Virtual Node ~~ By default the timeout value is 15 sec in Virtual Node configuration according to this AWS doc. Also I tried increasing this value in Virtual node listener but still have issues, Also, at the moment the only concern is where can we set timeouts in Appmesh other than virtual node configuration as per the above workflow? To be able to set a timeout greater than the default value we would need to setup a virtual router and a route with a timeout greater than the default. I tried according to this doc but still receiving timeout error's at 15 sec. Is there a programmatic way to download the EC2 Instance Recommendations from Migration Hub?
I am able to import server discovery through the Application Discovery Service API, however I cannot download the EC2 instance recommendations as I cannot find any API that supports this. Is there a way to do it programmatically? Thank you.
Can one of the two block devices be selected when creating replication?
# Can not configure the replication agent because system windows has two block devices. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/mgn/latest/ug/agent-installation.html --- -- The block devices are configured in "software raid1" dynamic mirroring by Microsoft software. Only one disk is visible for users, the C partition. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/backup-and-storage/set-up-dynamic-boot-partition-mirroring While configuring AWS Replication Agent on Windows server I am getting information in CLI (Installation Agent) that server has two block devices of 895G each and will replicate these disks to AWS (C:0 and C1) . Only one disk should be replicated as there is no need to replicate two same disks. Replicating all disks (deflaut config agent) creates two EBS disks of 895G in AWS. We do not want this configuration. When configuring the agent on the windows server I can not select one e.g. "C:0" or "C:1" drive, but can only select "C:/" I can not define one disk volume. I get a syntax error, I have tried forcing, adding --nopromt options etc, but it does not help. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/drs/latest/userguide/Troubleshooting-Agent-Issues.html ``` Identifying volumes for replication. Choose the disks you want to replicate. Your disks are: c:,d: To replicate some of the disks, type the path of the disks, separated with a comma (for example, C:,D:). To replicate all disks, press Enter: c:0 Disk to replicate identified: c:0 of size 895 GiB Disk to replicate identified: c:1 of size 895 GiB All volumes for replication were successfully identified. Downloading the AWS Replication Agent onto the source server... Identifying volumes for replication. Error: Failed to identify volumes for replication. Installation failed. Learn more about installation issues in our documentation at https://docs.aws.amazon.com/drs/latest/userguide/Troubleshooting-Agent-Issues.html Press Enter to close... ``` Replicating two disks block devices then takes twice as long, it generates extra costs in AWS and ec2 does not start properly (when I delete one of the disk ebs) From AWS I can not unpick one of the two disks. Because then the replicated Windows machine will not start, because the system has configured the option of duplicating disks (mirror) I tried several times to build the command, with volume override and so on, it did not help ---- In my opinion if it was a physical raid configuration then only one block device would be visible and only one EBS will be create. One of the two block devices cannot be omitted because the Agent does not have this functionality. --- Is there any way?
Application Code Assessment for dependency analysis
Hi All, I am looking for guidance/ inputs in selecting an **opensource tool for assessment** of application software (multi program language supported) by scanning **code from Git repos** to derive dependencies in terms of connectivity in multi-tier architecture (between web-app-db, caching, message broker, external integrations etc.). Idea here is to prepare target AWS architecture + migration approach based on assessment report. Appreciate if anybody has any suggestion on tool or how to handle assessment? Thanks.
