RDS went into recovery by itself?
One of our RDS instance went into recovery by itself without any notification/admin interactions There were 1. nothing meaningful in the event logs, only indicate it went into recovery and restarted 2. nothing logged in the MySQL error logs either https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1H4BG-qbmvbfEGV5H9aL28cjuWIeVqMnrryDEuUlynzM/edit#gid=0 How do we find out what happened? (ex: if underlying hardware indeed failed?)
AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery with Azure VMs
I'm trying to setup AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery for my Azure VMs. The replication to AWS and launching the recovery instances on AWS is going fine, but I ran into a problem when it comes to failback to Azure VMs. In order to do the failback, I need to boot Azure VM from the failback client (aws-failback-livecd-64bit.iso) which is not supported. I could work around that by converting the ISO to VHD, upload it to Azure storage account and boot the VM from there, but how do I then interact with it to enter the Access and Secret Key and other information that the agent might need in order to successfully pair with the relevant recovery instance on AWS? Is there any way to do that? Maybe to preconfigure the failback client with the information using some answer file or in any other way?
RDS Continuous Backup to cross region
How to set up RDS(mysql) Continuous backups to cross region using aws backup service or RDS service itself. - Able to create continuous snapshot in same region, but in other region only snapshot is getting created which is not continuous in nature to achieve point in time restore. - RDS deployment is created without Multi AZ and standby instance in our case. attached screenshot for ref![![![Enter image description here](/media/postImages/original/IMT7QINiX2Q_q5d-P8NuL2kw) Enter image description here](/media/postImages/original/IMelsAxLSvQWS_rzoWpJy-CQ) Enter image description here](/media/postImages/original/IMwPBcTN2yRUqIMcXLRFtMbQ)
VPC Endpoints for Elastic Disaster Recovery (EDR) Staging
Is it possible to setup a staging subnet using VPC endpoints with no internet gateway, if so, how? I've added an endpoint for drs, ec2, and s3 (gateway) but replication initiation always fails at "Authenticate with service" I've added an ec2 instance on the same subnet and it resolves drs.us-east-1.amazonaws.com to the endpoint IP address. VPC Flow Logs didn't lead me anywhere other than noticing that the private IP for the endpoint isn't showing in the logs at all and plenty of AWS owned public IPs are. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this any further.
Amazon Route53 Geolocation Routing Failover
Hi guys! I consider using Route53 with Geolocation routing to redirect my users traffic to my application hosted in two different Regions (Singapore and Japan). The reason I use Geolocation is that I want to redirect my user traffic to their language. The app is Singapore region is English and the app host in Japan region is for Japanese. Route53 with Geolocation will redirect user from Japan to their local region. On the other hand, user from other countries will be redirected to Singapore region. I have a question that if the Singapore region is down, will users be redirected to Japan region automatically?
Mutli-site Active/Active Disaster Recovery (DR) Architecture on AWS
Hi guys! I'm researching DR on AWS and when I read the Active/Active strategy, I see that AWS notes this strategy is zero downtime. I don't understand why this is zero downtime. For example, when customers are accessing our app in one region, when this region is down so the customers still have lost connection and then waiting for failing over to the new region. I think there is still downtime but it is very short. Could you please explain more detail about this problem? https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/architecture/disaster-recovery-dr-architecture-on-aws-part-i-strategies-for-recovery-in-the-cloud/ ![Enter image description here](https://repost.aws/media/postImages/original/IMqZBF-maSQhawZ7eBmgmq1w)

URGENT. AWS Root Account Hacked. AWS recovered our account. But EC2 and backup no traces of it in Account. Does AWS backup their systems to recover our website ?
We discovered the **AWS root account hack on 6/20/22**. We could not login to our account as the hacker email firstname.lastname@example.org replaced our email. We had to open a new AWS account to be able to reach AWS support and submit a ticket to the security team. But by the time AWS support recovered our account 6/24/22, by replacing the hacker email with our original email. The hacker had plenty of time to wipe out our account, when we accessed our account today 6/24/22 there was **no EC2 instances**. So at this point, we **have lost all our WordPress Law Firm code**. My question is can AWS support team **recover our website to include EC2 instances** ? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. NOTE: we have no backups on the account anywhere.
