Text to Speech Cognitive Service
Hello Team, I have a query in regards to the [Text to Speech Service](https://www.speakatoo.com/) that we offer on our website [https://www.speakatoo.com/ ](https://www.speakatoo.com/) We would like to add AWS TTS services too on our website and have few questions on SSML tags. I see that we have a few special tags for advanced effects that we can put across for AWS standard voices like below. **<amazon:effect name="whispered">**hello , how are you ?**</amazon:effect>** Is there a way that we can control these tags at our end as it is quite complex to put every time. Regards, Nish
An error occurred (InvalidSsmlException) when calling the StartSpeechSynthesisTask operation: Invalid SSML request
Why does the response in case of an error omit any details like which bits of the provided SSML is invalid? I'm currently facing a weird situation: When I try to start a StartSpeechSynthesisTask from a python application, using boto3, I get an InvalidSsmlException. But when I try the same input in the AWS Polly > Text-to-Speech console, it works flawlessly. Bet if the Exception included more info I would find the answer on my own
Converting long text to audio with Polly using S3 systhesis - failure
Hi, I am trying to convert a book in a word doc to audio using Polly. I paste chunks of the book under 100K characters into Polly and then hit save to S3. It schedules and then runs the task but then after a few minutes the S3 Synthesis task just says "failed". What am I doing wrong? Perhaps something with naming/creation/location of an S3 output bucket? I don't even know what that is, I am just writing in a name. Do I need to pre-create a bucket somewhere? I am sure this is a totally basic question but thanks in advance for the help!
Polly for Windows Plugin Fails on Some Voices
I installed the Amazon Polly for Windows Plugin (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/polly/latest/dg/install-voice-plugin2.html) and I'm now using the Polly Player to test voices. Several of the voices produce errors. Olivia, for example, errors on both neural and standard voices. My end goal is to use the voices in Adobe Captivate. I'm seeing the exact same error messages in Captivate, so I stepped backwards to try Polly Player. http://learning.realpage.com/downloads/sharon/images/olivia1.png http://learning.realpage.com/downloads/sharon/images/olivia2.png Both voices show in the Windows Registry. http://learning.realpage.com/downloads/sharon/images/registry1.png http://learning.realpage.com/downloads/sharon/images/registry2.png Any thoughts on how to get these (and other broken voices, like some of the Lupe variations) to work?
why does the whisper action on the polly console only work for the Mathew voice?
I recently tried the Polly console set to Neural and SSML and keyed in some text and tried several voices with the Whisper action and it works for the Mathew voice but does not work for any other one. If its set to Normal instead of Neural the whisper does work for other voices but does not sound good. Is there a reason the whisper only works for that one voice using the Neural setting?
Using SSML tags in WordPress
Hi All, I have integrated Polly into my WordPress blog and so far so good. The only issue I have is that it reads everything and I’d like to leave out certain things like twitter embeds etc. I’ve seen that you can insert SSML tags in to the content to do this but this is where I’m completely clueless. Am I inserting this into WordPress? If so, how and where? Or is it something I need to do in the Polly Dashboard (where the file lives in the S3 bucket perhaps)? Thanks in advance for any pointers.
How to censor words with Amazon Polly?
Hi, I'm trying to put a lexicon in Amazon Polly console in order to censor some stopwords. My .xml file is accepted, but there is no result with the spoken input. This is my script <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <lexicon version="1.0" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2005/01/pronunciation-lexicon" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.w3.org/2005/01/pronunciation-lexicon http://www.w3.org/TR/2007/CR-pronunciation-lexicon-20071212/pls.xsd" alphabet="ipa" xml:lang="it-IT"> <lexeme> <grapheme>parola uno</grapheme> <alias></alias> </lexeme> <lexeme> <grapheme>parola due</grapheme> <alias></alias> </lexeme> <lexeme> <grapheme>parola tre</grapheme> <alias></alias> </lexeme> <lexeme> <grapheme>parola quattro</grapheme> <alias></alias> </lexeme> </lexicon> ******* I can't understand the error, Thank you very much if you can help me!
Cognito & IAM setup for unauthorised access, to be used in Unity for Polly
We are trying to setup AWS Polly to use inside a Unity project. Currently we are getting this error: "Invalid identity pool configuration. Check assigned IAM roles for this pool" We have added Polly permissions to the IAM (find screenshots below): https://ibb.co/ThL6mcc https://ibb.co/kqcSTP3 And set up an identity, with unauthorised access, pointing to the IAM containing Polly permissions (find screenshot below). https://ibb.co/TthT7xs Before we linked Identity to the IAM, the error we were getting was pointing towards a lack of permissions for Polly, so it appears that code on the Unity side is working as expected. What are the steps we need to take in order to set up the identity pool configuration to work with unauthorised access? The project we are working on is a site based VR experience, and we are managing all of the machines ourselves, so we have no need for user authentication.
Voice output alters when using tag <say-as interpret-as="characters"> in POLLY
Amazon Polly question. I have a sentence, such as "it will be OK." When I change the script to "It will be <say-as interpret-as="characters">OK</say-as>. " or to "It will be O K. " The output sounds muffled for that sentence only, then goes back to how it sounded in the rest of the script. I'm using: * Neural engine * English, US language * Matthew, Male voice * SSML turned on The same thing happens when I use any 'interpret as=' tags Is anyone else running into this issue? It's very distracting and I can't figure out why it is happening. Thanks for any help you can give me.
