A/B Partitions with AWS EC2 instances
Is there a recommended way or guides on how to use the A/B partition upgrade scheme with AWS EC2 instances. This the scheme used by Android/ChromeOS for seamless upgrades of the operating system. References: , The requirement to specify the specific partition as the root volume makes it difficult for software running within the instance to change these values. Also if there is only one root instance specified how would a fallback boot work? I am looking for guidance and experiences of others in implementing this. Thanks in advance. : https://source.android.com/docs/core/ota/ab : https://blog.davidbyrne.io/2018/08/16/linux-ab-partitions
Agentless Application Migration Service Last Snapshot Job Failed
Hello, Setting up AMS with agentless discovery and replication onprem using vCenter 7.x works fine for the initial snapshot creation and replication but subsequently fails on any further snapshot creation/updates on the VM so the virtual machine shows as "stalled" in the AMS console. Checking all requirements, and the fact that it works initially, I am unable to decipher as to why subsequent snapshots are failing and there isn't much documentation on troubleshooting this so I was curious if someone had hit this before and might have some guidance? Environment: - vCenter 7.x - Windows 2019 VM and Ubuntu 20 VM in testing - both show "stalled" after successful initial replication - MGN client plugin 1.1.6 Thanks for any help!
MGN for RDM, direct-attach disks(ISCSI,NBD)
I need to migrate multiple VMs with RDM and direct-attach disks(ISCSI, NBD). After reading, MGN agentless replication doesn't support migrating those VMs with independent disks, Raw Device Mappings (RDM), or direct-attach disks (iSCSI, NBD). Could the agent-based replication support migrating those VMs with RDM or direct-attach disks(ISCSI, NBD)?
AWS MGN , EBS Volumes
Hi Team, we are doing a lift & shift migration using AWS MGN. In on-Prem we have 1 TB storage attached to a server in that only 250 GB is utilised. So here during replication , AWS MGN agent created 1 TB EBS volume. Is there any way to customise the EBS volumes that are created by the MGN during replication or during cutover phase ?? . Why we need to pay for unused volume ? Can you please guide us providing a right solution.
Re-host migration of RHEL server to AWS
We have a requirement to migrate (Re-Host) RHEL 6 server which has MAC based licenses to AWS. Wanted to check how can we leverage existing on-prem Licenses in AWS which is MAC bases ? Does it require to deactivate license from on-prem and then activate it again in AWS ? Please suggest.
AWS Datasync when executing a task and not finding changes to make, counts and charges Requests on an S3 Bucket when performing a verified on the directory / where N files are located ?????
Dear, a task was created in Datasync which transferred 8 files within a directory and subdirectories. My query is when reviewing the logs of the Datasync task, I observe that different requests are generated (created, transferred, verified). When executing a new Datasync task where no transfer was made because no new changes were detected, but when reviewing the task log again, I observed that the request was made on the root (verified directory /). My question is, when Datasync does not find a change to make, it makes N requests on the total number of files and directories that are already updated. Example: if I have 15,000 files updated on a bucket, and when executing a task again that does not make changes, will AWS still charge me and count for listing all the files that have already been transferred? I attach images where I only have 22 objects including directories, files and subdirectories, where 43 tasks were executed, of which 40 did not transfer files (only verified directory /), which, checking my cost manager, made about 1840 Requests (Put, Copy ,Post or List Request) to Amazon S3 ![![![Enter image description here](/media/postImages/original/IMr18LLdAzQ029NZYHaYyj6w) Enter image description here](/media/postImages/original/IM6a6FqBFvR3y9M2cc_47f3g) Enter image description here](/media/postImages/original/IM5rh_GTLaQaq5fKUyCZolkA)
