Upgrading Resources when Using Plesk Hosting Stack

0

Hi Forum,
I am planning to leave my current host and transfer all of the WordPress sites I manage over to Lightsail. I am fairly new to AWS and have very basic Ubuntu linux knowledge. I feel like Plesk is the right solution for me rather than installing a lamp stack and trying to manage it through terminal.

My question:
Is it possible to upgrade my instance resources at a later date after I set up an instance?
Would I just take a snapshot and then create a new instance with more resources and 'paste' my snapshot there then delete the old instance?
Say I start with a basic $5 instance and then decide I need the $10 instance. Is the aforementioned the correct method by which I should go about that task?

Thanks

Generally, yes, that's the procedure you would use.

To upgrade resources ...

  1. Take a snapshot of the current instance.
  2. Create a new instance from the snapshot you just created.
  3. Detach the static IP from the old instance
  4. Attach the static IP to the new instance
  5. Start the new instance
  6. Make sure your new instance is working correctly.
  7. Delete the old instance.
