I'm answering my own question here because I just found the solution, which is contained in here - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/dg/send-email-authentication-dmarc.html#send-email-authentication-dmarc-spf.
To solve the problem, change your SPF and DKIM alignment in the DMARC record from strict to relaxed. To do this, change adkim=s and aspf=s from s (strict) to r (relaxed); adkim=r and aspf=r.
The domain in the From address of the email header must align with the MAIL FROM domain that the sending mail server specifies to the receiving mail server. If the domain's DMARC policy for SPF specifies strict alignment, the From and MAIL FROM domains must match exactly. If the domain's DMARC policy for SPF specifies relaxed alignment, the MAIL FROM domain can be a subdomain of the domain in the From header.
Hi - I'm trying to follow the doc: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/dg/mail-from.html When I go to the instructions for setting up the Custom MAIL FROM domain The MX record that it tells me to add to my DNS has the number "10" in front of it. But on Godaddy I am unable to add the 10 in front of the value, because when I edit the mx record there is a field for Priority, which is where I put the 10.
My question is, does it need the 10 in front of the mx value? Or is putting it in the Priority field enough?

10 in the priority field is what you should do.
