network connectivity us-west and us-east

Question

About 12:45 eastern time, connectivity between our servers had issues. HTTP connections started timing-out, about 4% of the time. Now (around 13:00), servers are becoming unreachable via ping, ssh, and http. Interestingly, udp seems to be working (mosh).  
  
I booted a new server, same problems.  
  
Connectivity within us-west, and us-east is a problem, as well as connectivity between them. I've had problems with connecting from outside aws as well.  
  
Connectivity seems worse on us-west.

Answer

Turns out it was the DNS SOA. register.com switched us to ztomy.com nameservers, and failed to completely switch us back. Of course it was "only sometimes". So, every 5 minutes or so, we'd get the wrong DNS resolution. So, nothing to do with AWS networking.
