VPC with no Virtual Private Gateway. Is it possible?

Is it possible to have a VPC with no Virtual Private Gateway? Could a VPC with no Virtual Private Gateway connect directly to a Direct Connect Gateway? The reason would be in case there is possible reduced latency with this setup.

Yes, it is possible. See the option 3 in the below link. You can use a Transit Gateway (Transit VIF) along with DirectConnect Gateway, in this scenario you do not need VGW.
