Extreme Latency with RDP

0

I'm using Microsoft RDP on Mac (intel chip, Ventura 13.1) to connect to a Linux instance.

Other team members can connect to EC2 instances with RDP (on Windows computer), but when I connect I suffer from extreme latency - it's so extreme that I cannot actually work (takes 5-10 seconds to respond to keyboard clicks, and sometimes more).

I can connect via SSH smoothly, but RDP is a problem even after launching different instances type in different regions (which are closer to me), but nothing solved the issue.

I'm really lost, any ideas?

Confirming: When you connect to an instance using RDP you experience high latency; but when others connect to the same instance(s) using RDP they don't have any issues. Correct?

If that's the case, the first thing I'd look at is your computer and the RDP client. Assuming that you and your team members are on the same network then it's the only thing that is different. If you're not on the same network, try testing from the same network to eliminate that as a potential issue.

For network, check your traceRoute against the working users to see how different and are they reaching the same destination (could be a farm of servers behind)

Locally, check your DNS server (might be using dynamic DNS like OpenDNS which could cause problem), application firewall and proxy setting to see if they are different from other working users computer
