How to resolve problem with IAM Identity Center permissions

0

Hi,

I am new to AWS. I have just set up a free tier account in eu-north-1 (Stockholm).

I have created a separate user in IAM Center Permissions. I want to set permissions for this user.

However in IAM Identity Center Dashboard when I click on "Manage Permissions" I get a message "You must have IAM Identity Center enabled to use these features."

When I click on Enable it takes me to a screen with heading "IAM Identity Center (successor to AWS Single Sign-On)" and an Enable button on the right.

At the same time it has changed the region to N. Virginia. When I change this back to Stockholm it reloads the IAM Identity Center Dashboard.

I have been through this loop several times using different browsers and don't know how to set the permissions that I want.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hello.

I tried the same operation in my environment, but I could not reproduce the phenomenon.
My environment was enabled in the SSO era before IAM Identity Center, so the prerequisites may be slightly different.
Since there is a possibility that there is a bug in the UI, we recommend that you open a case with AWS Support under "Account and billing".

  • Thanks, I will try this and post the outcome here.

  • The guidance from AWS support was to delete the IAM Identity Center instance in Stockholm and create a new one in N. Virginia. This seems to have solved the problem. Many thanks for suggesting raising it with support.

Does it ask you for your home region when enabling this in Virginia?

  • No it doesn't ask me - it just automatically routes to Virginia.
