Lakeformation TagValues restrictions

0

Hi, I got an error when deploying my cloudformation of this kind: TagValues: expected maximum item count: 50, found: 81

For this stack I am deploying lakeformation tags with values. Indeed for one of the tags our customer has 81 corresponding values (they have business domains and inside of each domain they have subdomains). Subdomain is the one with 80+ values.

When I am checking documentation it says - The maximum number of values that can be defined for a LF-Tag is 1000. I thought my case falls under that restriction. However when I looked into the API for the TagValues the maximum number is 50. This parameter doesn't seem to be adjustable in the Quite increase section of the account. Those 2 values from 2 referenced docs seem to be contradicting each other. The limitation of 50 tag-values seem to be quite low. I can apply the work around and create custom names for subdomain tags but would like to understand if that limitation is expected behavior and what is the meaning of the documents in particular (The maximum number of values that can be defined for a LF-Tag is 1000.)

Thank you

Thank you for your answer but neither the first or the second option you have described in there in detail is what I mentioned in my question. I will qoute the documentation mentioned in my question:

The following limits are soft limits: The maximum number of LF-Tags that can be created is 1000. The maximum number of values that can be defined for a LF-Tag is 1000.

I am talking about the statement in bold ^

I read the phrase in bold as a "Total number of LF-Tag Values that can be defined for a LF-Tag is 1000". If those values are not LF-Tag Values what are they? When I mentioned 50 I referenced the API page - hyperlink is included in my original question.
