EC2 OpenJdk rpm update

I have an EC2 instance that has currently java-11-openjdk-11.0.15.0.9-2.el7_9 installed. How do I update it to java-11-openjdk-11.0.16.0.9-2.el7_9 without removing it?

Hello,

You can update your Java version via the Command Line Interface (CLI) using the command “sudo yum update” (without quotations). There is no need to worry about removing previously installed updates on your instance.

This documentation gives more generalized instructions on installing packages within a Linux instance via the CLI: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/install-updates.html

Additionally, this 3rd-party documentation can provide a more detailed look into your specific question: https://thesmartpanda.com/aws-ec2-update-java/ (please note this is not an official AWS document).
