Workspaces will not launch

Downloaded and installed Windows 64-bit from https://clients.amazonworkspaces.com/

When I try to start Amazon Workspaces nothing happens (no screen, no error presented).

It does not look like workspaces.exe installed the files in c:\windows\WinSxS, so why is it trying to use these files?

Hi @Jake, I hope you tried re-installing client to repair the installation.

  • I tried reinstalling the client many times. I also ran multiple antivirus, made sure C++ redistributables were updated, disk defrag, and uninstalled anything I could find that also used MSVCR80.dll. Same error every time.

Using Web Access may be an alternative but does not address why this application will not install correctly.

It appears your installation is corrupt, just clean it, reboot your system and try installing it again. Also, make sure to enable Web Access option as seen in image below, so that you can try to access WorkSpaces using Web browsers too. Enter image description here

The workspace client version 5.2.1.3123 does not seem stable (some of our users are not automatically connected to their machine since the update)

I reinstalled from 4.0 to current. I uninstalled and reinstalled every C++ redistributable. I ran dism, defrag, chkdsk, and a full virus scan.

Same error.

I installed workspaces on another laptop and noticed at the end of the install I was prompted re: a certificate. This never happens when installing on the 'broken' laptop. Does this hint at anything?
